Memorial Weekend

Our family decided to go to St. George over Memorial weekend in hopes of finding nice weather. We have been to St. George three times this year and each time the weather hasn't cooperated, but this time it was perfect! We stayed with my parents in their new home. The kids were able to swim and ride their bikes, and was great weather! During our stay we celebrated an early Fathers day for my dad! He will be out of town for Fathers day so we decided that it would be better to do it while we were all together! My sister and I got him a popcorn popper for his new house and fun stuff to go with it! No one loves popcorn like my dad!

To make for a crazy weekend, Doug's family was also in St. George. So we had a picnic with them in the park and the kids went swimming with them on Monday morning.

Here is Blake playing with all his Larsen cousins! Doug and Katelyn hanging out in the park!

We taught the kids how to play Uno over the weekend! It was so much fun, we had quite a few intense uno games over the course of the weekend!

Alyssa's Up with Kids performance

Alyssa has been doing Up with Kids musical theater company for the past three years, and has loved it. This year the show was called the Wonderful Witches of Oz. It was a combination of Wicked and the Wizard of Oz. Anyone who knows Alyssa knows that her favorite musical is Wicked, so she was so excited all year long. When casting time came around she hoped she would get a good part, and as you can see her part was Dorothy. The only thing that would have made her any happier would have been the part of Elphaba. Don't you think she makes a good blond little Dorothy?

In this scene Alyssa had her one solo. "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" She worked so hard on that song, it was a little to high for her, but she did a good job! Alyssa memorized all of her lines all by herself! A few times I would practice with her and be amazed that she already knew all of her lines. That is how I know she love's to act, I didn't once have to pester her to do it she did it because she enjoyed it. It is so nice as a parent to have your child find something they love to do, and will work hard on there own to improve.

Here is Alyssa in the green Emerald citizen costume with all the other kids in her class.

This year Alyssa was able to take with a few friends in our neighborhood. Here she is with her friend Shayden Lee, aren't they cute? Thanks to her mom Jennifer for taking some of these great action shots of Alyssa. What a great year, can't wait to see what she will get to do next year!

Aquarium Field Trip

I was able to go with Blake on the first grade field trip to the Living Planet Aquarium.
The aquarium is close to our home so we were able to walk!
There is nothing like seeing four classes of first graders slowly walking through a neighborhood, everyone could hear us coming! It took about 25 minutes to walk there and then we could explore on our own. I was in-charge of Blake, Logan, and Nate and they were very fun and easy it keep track of.

Here are all the boys making fish faces together! Boys can be so much fun and a little crazy all at the same time!

Here is Blake watching the penguins swim.
After we were able to look around the kids went into the sunken ship, and learned about maps from one of the aquarium employees.

Blake, Logan and Nate had fun sailing the ship and climbing on the frog.

I had a fun morning, but was happy when it was over and I got to go home.

Mothers Day

This is a picture with my kids on Mothers day! Alyssa and Blake picked out a nice new purse for me, they had pretty good taste! I also got a nice spa gift certificate, now if only I can find time to use it!

What cute kids! Alyssa and Blake are loving being a big sister and brother to little miss Katelyn. Blake loves to sneak her in his bed and cuddle with her. He is such a sweat and protective big brother. He can always make his little sister smile!

Race for the Cure

What a beautiful morning for the Race for the Cure! This is the third race I have done with my mom since she was diagnosed with breast cancer. It is also the second year Alyssa as done it with me. It has become a fun tradition to do with my mom and sister! We do the race and then treat ourselves to a wonderful breakfast! This year we went somewhere new the Normandie Cafe. It was wonderful and very decadent, we had breakfast and then dessert. We couldn't pass up their amazing desserts, and it was well worth it!
At the end of the race we ran into my cousin Brady and his wife Chrissie. Alyssa asked if she could pet their dog and then we realized it was my cousin. They had the best shirts on that said"Save Second Base"! What a fun morning!

Getting Started

After much consideration I have decided to start a family blog. I've never really wanted to give in and do a blog, but since I am so bad at journaling, I thought this might help. I have also come to the realization that my children are growing up before my eyes and I don’t want to regret not documenting their lives while they are young.

I also hope this will help keep updated with family members that live out of state.

So here goes, wish me luck!

St. George

In February my parents purchased a second home in St. George. We went at the end of April to help them set things up and to play. It happened to be the weekend of the Iron man race, and so it was a little hard to get around. The bike part of the race went right by their neighborhood. It made it almost impossible to get out on Saturday, and harder for furniture to be delivered. It made for a fun adventure!

Here we are in front of the TV stand that Doug and my dad set up!

Here is picture of Katelyn relaxing! Blake and Alyssa watching a movie on my parents bed.

Doug took the kids on a hike way up to the top, and then re-sprained his ankle! Poor guy had to climb down with his ankle killing him! So then he got to sit in the car with Katelyn while I hiked around with the kids! Lets just say he wasn't very happy! On a good note I had fun hiking with Alyssa and Blake.
